The City of Chicago Department of Public Health and the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) have developed a partnership with Caritas for CHA residents to receive free alcohol and substance abuse assessments and fast access to treatment services. This partnership is called the Caritas CHA Initiative.
As CHA families prepare to move into new homes or begin new jobs, theymay face many potential barriers. In an effort to remove some of these barriers, Caritas offers CHA residents:
-
Appointments for alcohol and substance abuse assessments.
-
Quick access to substance abuse treatment.
-
For CHA residents that qualify and might otherwise be placed on a long waiting list for treatment, substance abuse treatment may be paid for by this project until a State funded slot becomes available at a treatment program.
-
Follow-up services.
